Micro:bit Terminal strip

There are several ways to connect external components to the micro:bit. It is always important to have good contact with the copper tabs on the edge connector, while not touching the neighboring tabs. Often cables with so-called alligator clips are used for this.

The advantage of this method is that you can make connections quickly and without tools. The disadvantage, however, is that they easily slip out and make contact with the neighboring surfaces on the edge connector, so that things no longer work properly.

Terminal strip

A more solid connection can be made with this terminal strip. The strip makes it possible to connect wires to pins P0, P1, P2, 3V and GND that cannot make contact with other surfaces on the edge connector. Moreover, the wires do not come loose anymore when the screws are properly tightened. This requires a small Phillips screwdriver. The nuts are 'captured' in the recesses of the strip, so they cannot rotate while tightening the bolts. The images show some examples of connected wires. The 2 extra outer holes of the connection strip can be used to attach the micro:bit to your setup with a screw, string or rubber band.
